*Gareth Bale (Wales) is the first player to miss the goal frame taking a penalty (vs Turkey) at Euro finals since Raúl (Spain) vs France in 2000 edition (shootouts not considered).

*Italy became the first team in the tournament to guarantee itself a place in the playoffs. The Italians will not fall below 2nd place, even if they are defeated by Wales in the last round. They make such promotion for the 4th time in a row. The last time Italy failed to qualify from the group at Euro 2004 being then eliminated following the famous “Nordic victory” (the draw 2-2 in the final group round between Sweden and Denmark).




*Italy extended its unbeaten run to 29 matches. If Scuadra Azzurra doesn’t lose also next game vs Wales, it will equal the national record of 30 games in a row without defeats setup before WW2 (that series lasted from 1935 to 1939).

*Another impressive series of Italy, running from November 11, 2020, is 10 wins in a row. In its course, Italy defeated Estonia (4-0), Poland (2-0), Bosnia and Herzegovina (2-0), Northern Ireland (2-0), Bulgaria (2-0), Lithuania (2-0), San Marino (7-0), Czech Republic (4-0), Turkey (3-0), Switzerland (3-0). 


*In all these 10 games, as seen from the list above, Italy did not concede goals: it matched the national record in this category (10 consecutive clean sheets between November 1989 and June 1990). The total score for those 10 games is 31-0. Here Ciro Immobile scored the 3-0 against Switzerland yesterday.


*Italy became the second side in European Championships history to start the tournament with two consecutive wins by a 3+ goal margin (3-0 both vs Turkey and vs Switzerland). Previously, Netherlands achieved it in 2008 (3-0 vs Italy, 4-1 vs France). Yesterday, Manuel Locatelli scored two goals (picture) !

*In this edition of Euro (qualifying and final games), Italy continue to win all games: 12 out of 12!


*Giorgio Chiellini is taking part in his 4th Euro. He previously took part in the European Championships in 2008, 2012 and 2016. He is 3rd Italian with such experience, after Alessandro Del Piero and Gianluigi Buffon. 

*According UEFA, Leonardo Spinazzola (Italy) is the fastest footballer of the current European Championship, with a speed of 33.8 km/h. He is followed by Daniel James (Wales, 33.5 km/h), and Raheem Sterling (England, 33.1 km/h).
