*Fernando Rapallini (Argentine) became the 2nd non-European and 1st South-American main referee in a European Championship game. The first non-European was the Egyptian Gamal Al-Ghandour who led 2 matches in Euro 2000.



*Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk (Ukraine) became the first ever duo of compatriots to both score in each of their team’s starting two matches at a Euro final tournament.

*Ukraine – North Macedonia (2-1) became the first match in the history of the European Championship in which each team missed a penalty.

*Also, it is 2nd game in Euro history with 2 penalties missed in total (after Netherlands-Italy of Euro 2000 where 2 penalties were missed by the same side, Netherlands).

*It was 4th game in the history of the European Championship with a penalty awarded for each team (after Germany – Netherlands in 1988, England – Romania in 2000 and France – England in 2004).


*Ezgjan Alioski (North Macedonia) became the first player in the history of the European Championship to score a goal taking advantage of the rejection of a penalty (which he himself had missed).

*Four of the six penalties taken at Euro 2020 so far have been missed, as many as in the whole of Euro 2016. The record for missed penalties (5) belongs to Euro 2000.

*Ukraine has finally finished it’s six-match streak of defeats at the European Championships which was the joint negative record of the tournament.


*Andriy Yarmolenko is tied with Jan Heintze (Denmark) as the players who have lost the most consecutive games (6) in the history of the European Championship.


*Yussuf Poulsen (Denmark) has scored vs Nelgium (1-2) the 2nd fastest goal in Euro history, timed at 1 minute 39 seconds. Only Dmitry Kirichenko for Russia vs Greece at Euro 2004 scored earlier (at 1 minute 8 seconds).

*Netherlands became the 1st confirmed group winner at Euro 2020.


*Netherlands are now unbeaten in 9 matches at major tournaments (World Cup and Euro), the longest current run by a European national team.


*The age difference of 19 years 236 days between Netherlands duo Maarten Stekelenburg (38 years 268 days) and Ryan Gravenberch (19 years 32 days) in the game vs Austria (2-0) is the biggest age-gap between two team-mates in a European Championship game.
