- Marta, Brazil’s Super Star, has entered the Olympic Games record books after scoring against China her 11 and 12th goals in olympic competition. She became the first player, male or female, to find the net in 5 consecutive Olympic tournaments, having made her international debut back in 2002. The 35 year old Brazilian is now at the second place in the All Time Olympic Top Scorer Ranking behind the other Brazilian Christiane (14).
- Marta played her 160th international match with Brazil, scoring her 111th goal, so she extended her record as the best scoring male or female player in the History of Brazil ! Regarded as the best female player of all-time, she was already named 6 times as THE WORLD PLAYER OF THE YEAR by FIFA, playing in 10 different clubs and 3 continents during her career !
- Formiga, midfielder of Brazil’s National Team, has become the oldest player to EVER PLAY in the Olympic Games in her seventh (7 !) successive tournament at the age of 43.
- Lieke Martens and Vivianne Miedema have scored their 50th and 75th goals at the Olympic match against Zambia (10-3) for their National Team ! Netherlands, winner of the last Euro and Finalist of the last World Cup, is one of the avorites for the Olympic Gold.
- Christine Sinclair, Canada’s captain, became yesterday the 4th player in FOOTBALL History to reach 300 international caps with her country. The 3 others are the Us Girls Kristine Lilly 354, Christie Rampone-Pearce 311 and Carli Lloyd 307).And Sinclair scored also her 187th international goal (WORLD RECORD Male and Female) !
- For the first time since January 2019, the USA Women National Team lost a game after 43 matches (39 victories and 4 draws). Head coach Vlatko Andonovski lost for the first time since his debut , it was also his first game in an important tournament.
- Zambia’s captain Barbra Banda became the first African to score a Hat Trick in the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament. She lost with her team Zambia 3-10 against Nerherlands but scored all 3 goals !
- Sweden realized a great team performance in the opening game against USA. For USA, it was the most shoking result since the 2007 World Cup semi final defeat against Brazil !
- In the 2016 Brazil Olympics, Sweden won against the USA in the quarter finals on penalties after a painful game. In 2020 Olympics yesterday, Sweden won again but with a large domination and strong attacking runs. Never Sweden had such a complete, homogeneous and impressive team with leaders like captain Caroline Seger, Kosovare Aslani and Goalscorer Stina Blackstenius.
