WOMEN’S AFRICA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Created last year by the Confederation of African Football (Caf), the inaugural tournament, involving eight teams, began in Egypt last Friday until 19 November ! The two best teams in each Group will play the semi finals .
Hasaacas Ladies (Ghana), coached by Yusif Basigi since its foundation in 2003 ,the most successful women's club in Ghana completed a Premier League and FA Cup double this year. After two games, the team leads the ranking of Group A with 2 wins. Behind, Wadi Degla (Egypt) won a record of 12 Egyptian league titles and have won the past 11 in a row and Malabo Kings (Equatorial Guinea) won the national championship and two cup competitions in 2019, its first year in existence. Only ,AS Mande (Mali) has lost his two first gamesbut won both national league titles contested in Mali since 2017.
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies (South Africa), established in 2009 and winners of the inaugural South African Women's Soccer League last year, Sundowns Ladies also have two other national league trophies to their name. After two games, the team leads also the Group B. Behind,AS FAR (Morocco) lifted the national championship in 8 of the last 9 seasons in Morocco and Vihiga Queens (Kenya) are three-time league champions but missed out on the title this season in the play-off stage. Rivers Angels (Nigeria), founded in 1986 and title-winners in Nigeria six times since 2010, has lost his two first matches.
WOMEN’S SOUTH AMERICA COPA LIBERTADORES
The tournament is the women's version of the Copa Libertadores, which is organized since 1960. Beginning in 2019, clubs are denied entry to the men's Libertadores if they don't also have a women's team. The change was made to strengthen the women's competition.
After the first games of the final stage, Ferroviaria, Brazil’s winner of the 2020 edition of the Copa Libertadores, is the favorite to keep his crown with Colombia’s Deportivo Cali. The two teams won their 3 games sovereign, particularly Cali with the two best goalscorers of the competition, Linda Caicedo and Tatiana Ariza (4 goals each). In the last 8 teams able to win the Copa Libertadores 2021, there are 3 Brazilian teams (Ferroviaria, Kindermann and Corinthians), 2 Colombian (Deportivo Cali, Santa Fe), 1 Peruvian (Alianza Lima), 1 Uruyguayan (Club Nacional) and 1 Paraguayan (Cerro Porteno). The competition will crown his winner on November 21 !
UEFA WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
After 3 matches in the new edition of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, the favorites to succeed FC Barcelona lead all their rankings ! Paris SG, Olympique Lyon and FC Barcelona won all 3 matches to lead Group B, C and D. Chelsea FC won 2 matches with 1 draw to lead Group A. Behind the leaders, München VFL Wolfsburg, Real Madrid CF , Arsenal FC and FC Bayern München are the best placed to join the last 8 of the competition to qualify for the quarter finals at the beginning 2022 !
