WORLD CUP QUALIFICATIONS CONCACAF - CONMEBOL
CONCACAF
There are only five matches left in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying and things are looking good for the top 3 nations after the January 27 match slate. The top 3 teams made a great jump to the 2022 World Cup, while fourth-place advances to a play-in match against an Oceania team.
Undefeated Canada (1st, 19 points) continues to lead the qualifying table after a 2-0 win at last-place Honduras. It was a result achieved with the two best Goalscorers in CONCACAF Group, Cyle Larin (11) and Jonathan David (8). David scored one of the so important goals !
USA and Mexico are right behind Canada in the standings and both kept pace by winning, although it wasn't easy. The Americans (18 points) beat El Salvador by the minimum 1-0 scoreline (goal of Robinson), while Mexico (17 points) was happy to score two goals against a 10 men Jamaica team ! Panama (4th, 14 points) could not keep pace with the top three after a 1-0 loss against a desperate Costa Rica (5th, 12 points) team that is back in the mix for fourth place.
CONMEBOL
Half of the four direct tickets to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar have already been distributed in South America with three matches remaining. : Brazil (1st, 36 points) and Argentina (2nd, 32 points) !
Ecuador (3rd, 24 points) looks like it will soon be the next after his draw against Brazil.
The scrap for 4th and 5th includes five teams within five points. Peru (20 points) surprisingly moved to the head of the pack after a shock win in Colombia (17 points). Uruguay also got a big win in Paraguay and occupies fifth place on 19 points. Chile (16) and Bolivia (15) with the CONMEBOL Qualifying Best Scorer Marcelo Moreno (9) have also their chances !
