Allan McGregor: third player at 40+ in major European club finals
Rangers keeper Allan McGregor has played in the Europa League final vs Eintracht Frankfurt (1-1) at the age of 40 years 107 days.
He became just the third player aged 40+ in the history of major European club competitions (since 1955) to appear in the final game. Two his predecessors are Dino Zoff and Edwin van der Sar. McGregor takes now third position in the age ranking of the final participants behind them.
All three players who turned 40 at the final appearance are goalkeepers; all three lost their finals.
