*Lionel Messi (PSG) has scored vs Maccabi Haifa (3-1) who became his 39th victim in Champions League. No other player in the history of competition scored against so many different teams.
Cristiano Ronaldo is next with 38 teams, then Karim Benzema (34), Raúl (33), Robert Lewandowski (31), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (29), Thomas Müller (29).

*Messi also set the new Champions League record on the number of seasons with goal-scoring - 18. 
Benzema has 17 such seasons, Cristiano Ronaldo 16, Ryan Giggs 16, Raúl 15.

*Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid) has won his 100th Champions League game as a coach (2-0 vs Leipzig). Only former Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson is ahead of him in the historical ranking with 102 victories.

*Real Madrid has started a season with 8 wins in all competitions for the 3rd time in club history, after 1961-62 and 1968-69 (both times under Miguel Muñoz, both times a starting winning streak lasted 11 games).

*Erling Haaland (Manchester City) became the youngest player in Champions League history (22 years 55 days) to score for and against the same team (Borussia Dortmund). He surpassed Álvaro Morata who scored for and against Real Madrid to the age of 22 years 194 days.

*Being so young, Haaland has already reached 30 goals in European competitions (taking only 27 games for this), 26 of them in Champions League.

*Pep Guardiola (Manchester City) took charge of his 150th Champions League game; he is 5th coach to reach this milestone in the history of competition.

*Chelsea (1-1 vs Salzburg) failed to win both of their opening 2 matches in a Champions League season for only 2nd time, and first since 1999-2000 campaign.

*Allan McGregor (Rangers), with appearance vs Napoli (0-3), became 5th oldest player in Champions League history (40 years 226 days), after other goalkeepers Marco Ballotta (43-252), Gianluigi Buffon (42-315), Oleksandr Shovkovski (41-255), Mark Schwarzer (41-206).
