Players with most games (qualification + finals): Lionel Messi, Diego Godín and Iván Hurtado
*Iván Hurtado (Ecuador) has played most games (73) in the qualifying tournaments for World Cup (8 at 1994 edition, 15 at 1998, 17 at 2002, 17 at 2006 and 16 at 2010).
*As for players with most World games in qualification and final stages combined, Hurtado shares currently the record with Lionel Messi and Diego Godín (79 games for each) but last two should go up soon as they are going to play in Qatar.
