WORLD CUP RECORDS (Part 44) - GOALKEEPER WITH MOST PENALTIES FACED
Goalkeeper with most penalties faced: Hugo Lloris (France)
In the game France vs England on 10 December, Hugo Lloris became the first goalkeeper in World Cup history to face 5 penalties (not counting shootouts).
His first penalty came on 17 June 2010 when he conceded a spot kick from Cuauhtémoc Blanco (Mexico). Then Lloris lost the penalty duels to Mile Jedinak (Australia) on 16 June 2018, Robert Lewandowski (Poland) on 4 December 2022, Harry Kane 6 days, and only his last (up-to-date) challenge, against Kane anew, went successful for him: Kane struck over the bar.
With this double-duel vs English forward, Lloris skipped the holder of the record, Nasser Hejazi (Iran) who faced 4 penalties each.
Hejazi collected this amount having played just 3 World Cup games (all in 1978). He is only one goalkeeper in the history of competition to face 4 penalties in a single edition and only to face 2 penalties in 2 different games (vs Netherlands and vs Peru).
