CHAN-2022 


The 7th African Nations Championship CHAN-2022 (postponed to 2023), is scheduled to be held in Algeria from January 13 to February 4, 2023. It is the first major competition of CAF that Algeria will organize since the African Cup of Nations of 1990. As a reminder, the CHAN: is a continental competition dedicated to local players of the continent. 

Algeria wants to put the package to succeed this edition. Two new stadiums will host the games of this edition. It is the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki (Algiers). It has a capacity of 45 000 spectators and equipment to world standards. And the Miloud Hedfi Stadium in Oran. A brand new stadium that has been operational for 3 months. It can also hold 45 000 spectators. 

The Algerian state has devoted a good financial envelope to renovate the stadiums of 19 May in Annaba (capacity of 70 000 spectators).  And the Hamlaoui Stadium in Constantine with a capacity of 25,000 spectators. 

The Confederation of African Football announced on Tuesday that the opening ceremony of the African Championship (Chan 2022), scheduled for this Friday at Nelson Mandela Stadium will be broadcast in 66 countries.

According to the local organizing committee of the African Championship of local players revealed that a number of African soccer legends will attend the continental soccer tournament in Algeria.

According to the official page of the organizing committee, invitations have been extended to Yaya Toure and Didier Drogba from Ivory Coast, Roger Milla from Cameroon, Jay Jay Okocha from Nigeria, El Hadji Diouf from Senegal, Asamoah Gyan from Ghana and Karim Hagui from Tunisia.

18 nations are participating in this competition. The teams are divided into 5 groups.
