Marco Asensio, new UCL top bench goal-scorer
In the current Champions League, Marco Asensio set the new record of the competition on goals scored as a substitute.
He netted coming from bench for Real Madrid on 14 September 2022 in the group stage game vs RB Leipzig (2-0) and then repeated it on 12 April in the quarter-final vs Chelsea (2-0), so he has now 9 “bench” goals in UCL.
He has broken the previous record set by Ole Gunnar Solskjær (7 goals), equaled then by Karim Benzema, Thomas Müller and Marco Asensio himself.
In the ranking, the right column means total goals of a player in UCL.
