NEW RECORD IN BRAZIL
Fábio: most seasons in Brazilian top flight
The Fluminense’s goalkeeper Fábio (full name Fábio Deivson Lopes Maciel) began his 22nd season in the top tier of Brazilian league. He equaled the national record, which was set by another goalkeeper, Rogerio Ceni, in his last season of 2015.
Fábio could have achieved a more impressive result, but his former club Cruzeiro was relegated to the second division (Serie B), where the veteran goalkeeper spent 2 seasons (2020, 2021). Overall, this is his 26th season in his senior career!
The ranking of the longest-serving players in the Brazilian championship since 1959 with details are in the table.
