All-time best top division goal-scorers: Croatia (Part 29)
The top Croatian professional football league (Prva HNL) was established in 1992.
Igor Cvitanović became the first player to score 100 goals (during the 1997-98 season) and held the record for most goals with 126 until 2012.
On 14 April 2012, Davor Vugrinec scored his 127th goal and surpassed Cvitanović. He retired in May 2015 with 146 goals for 5 different clubs on his tally. His record is standing now.
Six players have reached the 100-goal mark, including also Ivan Krstanović, Joško Popović, Miljenko Mumlek and Mijo Caktaš.
In the current top 10 of goal-scorers, there is one foreign player: Ivan Krstanović (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
Krstanović (123 goals) and Mijo Caktaš (100) are two active players there.
Igor Cvitanović has scored the most for a single club, 117 for Dinamo Zagreb.
Some clubs took different names throughout their history (Varaždin was Varteks Varaždin, Dinamo Zagreb was Croatia Zagreb, Inter Zaprešić was Inker Zaprešić). In such cases, a club is mentioned by its current name.
