ROMELU LUKAKU IN EUROPEAN HISTORY

Lukaku set longest scoring streak in a Europe club competition

In the Europa League first match-day, Romelu Lukaku has scored a goal for Roma in away game vs Sheriff (2-1). This goal inscribed his name in the history of European football.
It was Lukaku’s 12th consecutive scoring game in Europa League. No one player had such a long streak in any of European club competitions.
The previous record belonged to Cristiano Ronaldo who netted in 11 games in a row in Champions League between 3 June 2017 and 11 April 2018.
Regards Europa League specifically, Lukaku has by far beaten the record of the competition established by Alan Shearer: 8 scoring games between 30 September 2004 and 7 April 2005.
Shearer condensed his series into one season. Unlike him, Lukaku stretched his record over almost 9 years and three seasons in which he participated in Europa League. Moreover, in all three seasons he represented different clubs.
His streak started with 5 games in 2014-15 when he scored at every appearance for Everton; continued in 2019-20 with Inter (6 games) and now this season where he started for Roma another scoring game. This series can be continued in subsequent match-days.
