Statistics on Champions’ League R16 games (March 5-6)
*Manchester City (with the repeated 3-1 vs Copenhagen) continue their amazing streaks: they have scored 3+ goals in 9 consecutive UCL home matches and 3+ goals in 8 consecutive UCL goals at all (straight 3 goals in every game in the last of these series).
Both runs are unprecedented in the history of competition.
*Apart from that, Manchester City go on their winning streak in Champions League that is now as long as 10 games in a row (2 last in the previous campaign and all 8 in the current one).
It’s joint 3rd longest streak in the UCL history (along with those of Real Madrid and Milan).
Bayern hold the record with 15-win run, and Barcelona once had 11 wins in a row.
*Manchester City have also reached 30 consecutive home matches in the Champions League without defeat, being the 2nd team in its history to do it, after Barcelona who were undefeated in 38 homes in a row between September 2013 and November 2020.
Of these 30 matches, Man City won 28 (including all last 12) and tied just 2.
*Real Madrid, though struggling in the 2nd leg vs RB Leipzig (1-1 at home), have still overcome a German opposition once again.
“Los Blancos” won all last 8 UCL playoff duels against German teams, since the semifinal lost against Dortmund in 2013.
During this series, Real Madrid eliminated Bayern 3 times, Schalke twice, Wolfsburg, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig once each.
*Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid) and Pep Guardiola (Manchester City) both have reached the UCL quarterfinals in 14th time in his coaching career, setting thus the new record of the competition.
They left behind Alex Ferguson (13).
*Bayern (3-0 vs Lazio) are the team with most appearances (12) in the quarterfinals in the last 13 editions of the Champions League.

This is longest individual series of goals scored by any part of body in the history of competition.
The next are Lionel Messi and Mohamed Salah: each of them scored his 19 consecutive UL goals by left foot.
Before Mbappé, the longest right-footed goals’ streak belonged to Luiz Adriano (14).
