ONE CLUB SCORERS WORLD RANKING
One-club scorers: Mbappe reaches 250, Al-Mutawa 300
*Just before the current international break, Kylian Mbappé (PICTURE) has scored his 250th goal for PSG; it was the last of his three goals netted in the league game vs Montpellier (6-2).
Next aim for him can be to beat the old national record of Roger Courtois, who has scored 253 top level goals for Sochaux between 1933 and 1952. This is the maximum of goals a player ever produced for the same club in the history of French football.
*Shortly before Mbappé, another player reached 250 top-level goals for a single club: Jordan Owens, who held his entire career in Crusaders. He celebrated the milestone on 23 December 2023 in the league game vs Glenavon (3-1). Now he is at 251.
Owens is 2nd Northern Ireland player in XXI century to score 250+ goals for same team, along with Joe Gormley.
*With Owens and Mbappé, the number of strikers who reached this mark has increased to 13. Now we update the ranking of best one-club scorers. 11 of them are active (highlighed in bold) but 5 of these 11 currently play for a club different from that one where they were prolific (including all 4 leaders of the ranking).
*Another important event from last days: Bader Al-Mutawa (IFFHS Award winner 2010) became the 5th scorer of XXI century with 300 top-level goals for the same club (Al Qadisiah). The milestone was reached on 7 March in the Kuwaiti league game vs Al-Shabab (7-0).
Remarkably, this goals made Al-Mutawa the new all-time top scorer in the Kuwaiti top flight (163 goals). He surpassed Firas Al-Khatib (162).
Now Al-Mutawa has already 301 goals at his tally.
*A Faroese forward Klæmint Olsen came back to NSI Runavik after a season of “exile” in Iceland where he had to go because NSI accidentally left the top division (now being reinstated there) and he didn’t want to play anywhere else in home archipelague while his one-heart team wasn’t part of elite.
