THE KING OF CLEAN SHEETS
IFFHS ranking for keepers with most ICC clean sheets
For the first time, we publish the historical ranking for the goalkeepers with the most clean sheets in major international club competitions.
Pepe Reina (picture) has finished the current European campaign after his Villarreal was eliminated from the Europa League. This season he increased his world record to 79 clean sheets.
It's hard to say whether Pepe Reina will be able to round that number to 80, given his age (he turns 42 this year), the club's uncertain prospects for next season, and gradual decrease of his playing time.
But there is no doubt that his record will stand for quite some time. To verify this, just look at the table. Current players are highlighted in bold and red.
In addition to the total number of clean sheets, a breakdown by tournament geography is also given (Europe, South America, Africa, World).
