New records of Ancelotti and Pérez
*Carlo Ancelotti has increased his records in European Cup/Champions League:
the coach with most finals – 6 (the next-most have 4),
the coach with most titles – 5 (the next-most have 3).
He has also established 2 new records of the competition:
the person with most finals as player and coach – 9 (resp. 3 and 6),
the person with most titles as player and coach – 7 (resp. 2 and 5),
*Along with Ancelotti, also Florentino Pérez set the new record as president with most wins in the top continental competition – 7. He surpassed Santiago Bernabéu (6).
*An interesting feature of this European season: all three tournaments were won by coaches who are of advanced age.
Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid, 64 years) – Champions League,
Gian Piero Gasperini (Atalanta, 66 years) – Europa League,
José Luis Mendilibar (Olympiacos, 63 years) – Conference League.
Curiously, in all 3 cases they were opposed in the finals by coaches much younger than them: Edin Terzic (Borussia Dortmund, 41), Xabi Alonso (Bayer, 42) and Vincenzo Italiano (Fiorentina, 46).
