Copa America 2024: Bravo and Guerrero break age records
In the second match of Copa America 2024, Peru vs Chile (0-0), the first players in the history of the tournament featured whose age exceeded 40 years.
Two at once: Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravo (41 years 69 days) appeared in the starting lineup while Peruvian forward Paolo Guerrero (40 years 172 days) was used as a late sub.
Accordingly, Bravo became the new tournament record holder in this category (surpassing the Bolivian Carlos Trucco who played at the age of 39 years 322 days in the 1997 final), and Guerrero became the new oldest outfield player.
To remind, at the parallel Euro, the age participation record was also updated few days ago (Pepe).
