Lionel Messi has finally opened his goal account at Copa America 2024 in the today’s semi-final vs Canada (2-0).
This is the 6th edition of the tournament (out of 7 with his participation) in which he has scored. He was unable to do this only in 2011.
Messi equaled the record of the Brazilian Zizinho, who until that moment was the only player in the Copa America history to score in 6 different editions.
Another 5 players scored goals in 5 editions. Among them, the Peruvian Paolo Guerrero, who took part in the current one and missed the chance to join the record (his team scored nothing at all).
