Lionel Messi, the new Copa America record holder on wins
Lionel Messi, preparing now to defend the Copa America champion title with Argentina in the final vs Colombia, has just broken another competition’s record, for the number of matches won.
Previously it belonged to Zizinho (23). Leo totalled 21 victories before the start of the current tournament. After winning further 3 matches in the 2024 edition, he thus surpassed the legendary Brazilian with 24.
Previously, Messi also set also the new competition record for number of matches (now at 38).
