All-time best top division goal-scorers: Estonia - old league, 1921-1943 (part 43)
In the last publication (October 2023), we presented the scorers’ ranking of Estonian top-tier national league since its re-establishing in 1992.
It coincides with the similar ranking for two periods of the league existence combined as the tallies of the scorers featuring in the first period (1921-1943) were far below.
Nevertheless, the separate ranking for the first period can call some interest as well. Here we publish the list of 10 best goal-scorers of the “old” Estonian league (all were native players).
From 1921 to 1928, this league was actually not more than just a small knock-out tournament. In 1929, it was upgraded to the classic league format that kept until 1943 where the league ceased to exist due to war and political circumstances.
Richard Kuremaa (picture) is the record holder of this league with 65 goals scored between 1931 and 1940. His record was broken by scorers of modern era of Estonian top-tier league in 1995.
The second-placed Arnold Laasner has scored most goals for the same club, 54 for Sport Tallinn.
