800 FOR CRISTIANO RONALDO
Cristiano Ronaldo joins the «800+ Domestic Games Club»
The first match of the new season, for Al-Nassr against Al-Taawon (2-0) in the Saudi Arabian Super Cup semifinal on 14 August, was Cristiano Ronaldo's 800th top-level domestic match of his career.
He is only the second active player in world football to reach this level, along with Brazilian goalkeeper Fábio, who holds the world record (1073 games).
There are now 16 players in the “800+ Domestic Matches Club”. 11 of them are Europeans; all 10 who previously joined the club represented only Great Britain.
In conjunction with this event, we publish for the first time a historical ranking of the players with the most domestic matches.
