All-time best top division goal-scorers: Germany (Oberligas, 1945-1963) (part 49)
In the post-WW2 period preceding to Bundesliga inception, from 1945 to 1963, the highest tier of (West)-German football consisted of 5 regional Oberligas. The best teams of Oberligas (OL) contested in the end of season the German championship (GS).
Here we focus on this period of history, giving the ranking of its top goal-scorers. The goals in both parts of season are considered.
Oberligas are marked by abbreviatures: SW = South-West, S = South, N = Nord, W = West (the goal-scorers from Oberliga Berlin have not reached the 200-goal level).
For the Oberliga South-West also the goals are included, scored in so called “Championship of French Zone” (the final games between the winners of two groups) and in the Autumn 1946 series (a primary championship 1946-47 that was broken after few rounds, with the new one being contested afterwards).
Ottmar Walter holds the record for this period, with 354 league goals total, including 325 in Oberliga South-West and 29 in German Championship, between 1945 and 1959.
His brother Fritz, as well as Uwe Seeler and Max Morlock also surpassed 300-goal mark. Each of them four represented only one club during this period.
