Messi’s back-to-back hat-tricks
Past weekend, Lionel Messi has scored hat-tricks in two consecutive games: for Argentina vs Bolivia (6-0) ia a World Cup qualifier, and then, 4 days later, for Inter Miami vs New England Revolution (6-2) in the final round of MLS regular season.
Messi achieved this feat (back-to-back hat-tricks) for the 6th time in his career. All such cases are listed below; the first 5 of them fit between 2011 and 2014. So, it’s now happened again after 10 years of break.
The second of the named hat-tricks, vs New England, is pretty special due to short time that Messi was given on pitch, just 33 minutes in the second half.
It is his 2nd hat-trick in the career as a substitute, after that of 10 June 2016, for Argentina vs Panamá (5-0) at Copa América.
For the 13th time he has scored 2+ goals off the bench.
