PRESENTATION
Hristo Stoichkov, born on 8 February 1966 in Plovdiv (Bulgaria), began his youth career in Maritsa Plovdiv with eleven years old before joining Hebros.
In Hebros he played 32 matches, scoring 14 goals, from 1982 until 1984.
He joined CSKA Sofia where he played 162 matches, scoring 111 goals, from 1982 until 1984. He won with CSKA Sofia the A Group title: 1986–87, 1988–89, 1989–90 and Bulgarian Cup: 1984–85, 1986–87, 1987–88, 1988–89 , also the Bulgarian Supercup: 1989. He won the Award Bulgarian Footballer of the Year: 1989, 1990 and Bulgarian League Top Scorer: 1989, 1990 also European Cup Winners’ Cup Top Scorer: 1989 and European Golden Shoe: 1990.
He joined FC Barcelona in two periods (1990-1995) and (1996-1998) where he played 255 matches, scoring 116 goals. He won with Barcelona the La Liga: 1990–91, 1991–92, 1992–93, 1993–94, 1997–98 ; the Supercopa de España: 1992, 1994, 1996 ; the UEFA Champions League: 1991–92 ; the European Super Cup: 1992, 1997 ; the Copa del Rey: 1996–97 and UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup: 1996–97.
He won the Ballon d’Or 1994 ; the Bulgarian Footballer of the Year 1991, 1992, 1994 ; the FIFA World Player of the Year Silver Ball 1992, 1994 and IFFHS World’s Top Goal Scorer of the Year 1994.
In Parma he played 30 matches, scoring 7 goals, from 1995 until 1996.
In 1998 he returned to CSKA Sofia where he played 4 matches, scoring 1 goal.
In Al-Nassr Club, season 1997–98 ,he played 2 matches, scoring 1 goal, He won with Al-Nassr the Asian Cup Winners’ Cup 1997–98.
He joined then Kashiwa Reysol where he played 29 matches ,scoring 13 goals from 1998 until 1999.
With Chicago Fire, he played 57 matches, scoring 20 goals from 2000 until 2002. He won with Chicago Fire the U.S. Open Cup 2000.
Then, He joined D.C. United and he played there 24 matches, scoring 6 goals in season 2003.
In the Bulgarian national football team , he played 83 matches, scoring 37 goal from 1987 until 1999. He played FIFA World Cup Semi-Finals 1994. He won award FIFA World Cup Golden Shoe 1994 and FIFA World Cup Bronze Ball 1994 .
Manager STOICHKOV
He became manager of the Bulgarian national football team (July 2004-April 2007). He had 29 games with 13 wins, 11 draw and 5 losts.
He took in charge Celta Vigo (April 2007-October 2007)where he had 17 games with 7 wins, 1 draw and 9 losts.
