Barcelona dramatically won 5-4 away over Benfica on 21 January. Earlier in the campaign, Bayern Munich crushed Dinamo Zagreb with a 9-2 score.

In the European Cup era between 1955 and 1992, the most prolific game (14 goals) was Feyenoord’s 12-2 away win over KR of Iceland on 17 September 1969 in the first leg of the first round.
