THE WORLD’S BEST REFEREE 1991 and 1993 : Peter MIKKELSEN (Denmark)

PRESENTATION

Peter Mikkelsen ( May 1, 1960 – January 30, 2019) was one of the greatest referees in the 90′. The Danish teacher has refereed in the Danish Superliga from 1985 to 1998 and began his international career in 1985 until 1996. He has refereed 5 matches in the FIFA World Cup (two in 1990 and three in 1994) and two UEFA European Championship tournaments in 1992 and 1996. He was always designated for the important matches of European Cups and realised a great referee career. He died at the beginning of this year, too young .

IFFHS Awards 1991 and 1993 : Peter Mikkelsen was one of the most regular referees in the World, he won the IFFHS Award THE WORLD’S BEST REFEREE in 1991 and 1993, but he took place 4 in 1990 and 1995, place 3 in 1992 and 1994, place 8 in 1996 ! What a fantastic career.
