LONGEST RUNS
Two longest runs of “sub goals” in La Liga ended on same day
Cristhian Stuani (picture) set this season an unprecedented streak in La Liga history: 14 consecutive goals scored as a substitute (for Girona).
The 38-year old Uruguayan last time scored as a starter on 20 August 2023 (vs Getafe 3-0) and then did it during neary 2 seasons only coming off the bench.
Stuani’s run was over on 24 April as he finally scored a starter again vs Leganes (1-1).
Curiously, that same day also Alexander Sørloth has broken his own series of 9 goals in a row scored a substitute (for Atletico Madrid).
Sørloth’s streak is the 2nd longest of this kind in La Liga history, level with Alberto López Moreno, a Spanish forward who performed it in 1997-99 playing for 2 clubs, Racing Santander and Valladolid.
