Defending champions, Senegal take bronze medal.

It was to crown 90 minutes of play and a penalty shootout against Sudan at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Kampala. For the penultimate game of the tournament,  Ugandan female referee, the dimunitive Shamirah Nabbada was in charge. The early minutes domination by Sudan was marked by the sixth minute opener through Al Hilal's Mohamed Teya who towered high in the area tranfixing keeper Arona Diouf and defender Daouda Ba. Fighting back, Senegal either saw Joseph Samb's attempt barely skirting the upright or Daouda Ba's effort in the box being parried by Keeper Mohamed Alnour. The latter would the reason why in spite of brilliant networking in the Sudanese goal, the scoreline would stay 1/0 at the half.

However, Senegal would maintain the pressure into the second half to tie 1/1 on 58 minutes. It was thanks to a Christian Gomes cross that saw Libasse Guey of Teungueth FC heading home the equalizer. Sudan would certainly have counted their blessings differently had Maaz Kandani found the net after laying defender and keeper to rest barely seven minutes to full time.

In the shootout, Senegal scored every shot through Joseph Samb, Issa Kane, Vieux Cisse and Libasse Guey. Ahmed Saeed and Mohamed Alrashed did same for Sudan. But while Walieldin Daiyeen shot wide, Musab Makeen couldn't beat the keeper. As the defending champions celebrated their 4/2 win from the spot Dakar Sacre Coeur's Daouda Ba received the mvp award.
