ONE STEP FROM RECORD !

Xabi Alonso stumbles one step away from a Capello’s record

Xabi Alonso was just one match short of matching Fabio Capello's record for coaches in Europe's top five leagues.
From 1991 to 1993, Capello went 38 consecutive Serie A away matches unbeaten with Milan. The Spaniard's run stood at 37 matches before yesterday's Madrid derby.
Xabi Alonso went two seasons without losing away from home with Bayer Leverkusen (34 matches in total). He left the club with that streak unbroken. As Real Madrid coach, he added three more away matches to his run. And then it was ended in a historic derby against Atlético Madrid (2-5) at Nuevo Metropolitano.

*Only once before in his coahing career Xabi Alonso conceded 5 goals in a game: vs Eintracht (1-5) on 15 October 2022.

*Real Madrid conceded 5+ goals from Atlético Madrid in official matches 3 times in history of this rivalry; last time it happened 75 years ago:
0-5 on 23 November 1947,
1-5 on 12 February 1950
3-6 on 12 November 1950
