MOROCCO SET NEW WORLD RECORD !

Morocco’s world record: 16 wins in a row!

On 14 October, Morocco set a new world record for most consecutive wins by a national team (16), following their 1-0 home victory over Congo in the final match-day of the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
The Atlas Lions surpassed Spain’s run of 15 wins between June 2008 and June 2009. It’s another great feat of the team led by Walid Regragui, a head coach who has become a symbol of Moroccan success since the sensational reaching the 2022 World Cup semifinal.
The last game that Morocco failed to win was a 0-0 draw vs Mauritania on 27 March 2024. Their subsequent record run consists of 7 wins in World Cup qualifiers, 6 wins in Cup of African Nations qualifiers and 3 wins in friendlies. A total goal difference amassed during this streak is also impressive (50 to 4).
Now, the Atlas Lions can try to eclipse another world record, for consecutive wins in competitive games. It belongs to Germany: 15 wins between July 2010 and June 2012. Morocco have currently 13 such wins in a row.

It is necessary to clarify that the matches played by an alternative Morocco’s team, composed only of players from their domestic league, are excluded from consideration.
This alternative team has played 9 matches in 2025 (2 friendlies and 7 in the African Nations Championship last August), in 3 of which failed to win 91 draw and 2 defeats).
These fixtures are not considered in the official count of the Moroccan Football Federation. It is entirely in accordance with common sense that we do not take them into account either. After all, that’s a completely different team, and regular head coach Walid Regragui did not lead it.
