Jonas Gonçalves Oliveira, known as Jonas, born 1 April 1984 in Bebedouro (Sao Paulo), is a Brazilian international striker, who won the IFFHS Award 2018 of THE WORLD’S BEST TOP DIVISION GOAL SCORER with Lionel Messi !
Jonas started his career in Brazil with Guarani in 2005 (12 goals in 25 matches), before joining FC Santos, where he showed his talent (58 matches, 10 goals) and won the 2006 and the 2007 Campeonato Paulista . He moved to Grêmio in 2007 for four years.He played there 134 matches, scoring 76 goals and winning the Campeonato Gaucho 2010. In this time, he was loaned one season to Portuguesa where he scored 18 goals during his stay.
In 2011, Jonas signed in Valencia in Spain. He stayed 3 seasons with Valencia CF, scoring 51 goals in 157 matches. During this time, he was selected for the first cap with the National team of Brazil in 2011 (12 matches and 3 goals until 2016, date of his last match). On 1 November 2011, Jonas scored the fastest goal in UEFA Champions League History by netting inside 10,84 seconds to give Valencia a 1-0 lead against Leverkusen.
In 2014, Jonas joined Benfica in Portugal. He collected there 4 Primeira Liga titles (2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17, 2018/19), 2 Taça de Liga (2014/15, 2015/16), 1 Taça de Portugal (2016/17) and 2 Supertaça Candido de Oliveira (2016, 2017). And also many individual Awards like the Primeira Liga Player of the Year (2014/15, 2015/16) , the Bola de Prata (2016, 2018) and the IFFHS Award of THE WORLD’S BEST TOP DIVISION GOAL SCORER 2018 (with Lionel Messi) ! He scored 137 goals in his 183 matches with Benfica from 2014 to 2019, becoming the second best Top Goal Scorer in the Benfica History behind Oscar Cardozo (172 goals). He stopped his career on 10 July 2019 after 586 matches and 297 goals !
