PRESENTATION
Baghdad Bounedjah, born 24 November 1991 in Oran, has made History, being the first Algerian to win an IFFHS Award in 2018 with the Trophy of THE WORLD’S BEST TOP GOAL SCORER and making a double into winning the IFFHS Award 2019 of THE WORLD’S BEST TOP DIVISION GOAL SCORER !
Bounedjah began his career in his native city Oran, where he played in youth and in senior in 2009. Two seasons (46 matches, 69 goals) with amateur club RCG Oran brought him to move to El Harrach in 2011. He played there also two years, scoring 18 goals in 54 matches, making his professional debut .
Tunisia and Etoile Sportive Sahel were his next destination in 2013. He stayed two seasons, winning the Tunisian Cup twice (2014, 2015) and the CAF Confederations Cup 2015. He played there 76 matches, scored 46 goals and was capped for the first time in the Algerian National team in 2014 after 13 matches with the U23.
In 2015, Bounedjah joined Qatar and the club Al Sadd SC. He showed his Goal Scorer feeling, scoring in 4 seasons 134 goals in only 117 matches ! He won the Qatar Stars League 2018/19, the Qatar Cups 2017 and 2020, the Emir of Qatar Cup 2017 and the Qatari Super Cups (2017, 2019). He scored 39 goals in one season (league record) and 58 goals during the 2018 calendar year ! In the same time, he became one of the leaders of the National Team of Algeria and won the Africa Cup of Nations 2019 , scoring the winning goal in the final!
He was crowned by IFFHS THE WORLD’S BEST TOP GOAL SCORER 2018 (international goals) and THE WORLD’S BEST TOP DIVISION GOAL SCORER 2019 (national goals), Algerian Footballer of the Year 2018, was nominated in CAF Team and Qatar Stars League Team of the Year. He was also Top Goal Scorer in Tunisian Ligue 1 (2013/14), in CAF Confederations Cup (2015), in Qatar Stars League (2018/19), in AFC Champions League (2018) and in FIFA Club World Cup 2019 !
With 267 goals in 293 official games, Bounedjah entered in the Top 10 of the best World Goal Scorers. With Algeria, he was capped 33 times (15 goals), participated at the 2016 Summer Olympics and two editions of the Africa cup of Nations.
