Megan Anna Rapinoe, born 5 July 1985 in Redding (twins with Rachael), is the currently co-captain of US National Team (with Alex Morgan and Carli Lloyd) and of OL Reign. She had her glory Year in 2019 when she won all World Trophies : the FIFA World Cup with USA, the FIFA Golden Ball, the FIFA Golden Boot, the FIFA Best Player, the BALLON D’OR and the IFFHS World’s Best Woman Playmaker !
After her youth career in Grove Pride, she joined the University of Portland in 2005 until 2008, winning her first international caps with USA National Team U20 (21 matches, 9 caps) and with the senior National Team in 2006. She totalled 168 international games (52 goals) until now with USA and has won 2 FIFA World Cups (2015, 2019), one Olympic Gold Medal (2012), 3 Algarve Cups (2011, 2013, 2015), 2 CONCACAF Championships (2014, 2018), two She Believes Cups (2018, 2020) and the Silber Medal at the FIFA World Cup 2011 !
In 2009, she joined the Chicago Red Stars, then Philadelphia Independence, Magic Jack and FC Sydney in Australia the same year 2011 before landing in Seattle in 2012. She stayed there since that date, playing first for Seattle Sounders in 2012 and then for Seattle Reign FC. Meanwhile, Megan Rapinoe went to France and Olympique Lyonnais in 2012/13, where she won the Ligue 1 title , the French Cup and was runner up in the UEFA Champions League. With Seattle Reign, she won also the NWSL Shield in 2014 and 2015. This year, Olympique Lyonnais, her club in 2012/13, became the team’s majority owner of Seattle Reign and rebranded to its current name, OTL Reign.
Megan Rapinoe, known for her style of play and activism, is a leader and a great personnality of the Football World . She was also nominated in the NWSL Team 2018, the IFFHS World Team 2019 and in the FIFPRO World Team 2019. Next step : the Mask Olympic Games !
