Senegal and Liverpool FC attacker, Sadio Mané, 28, has been crowned the 2020 IFFHS Africa Best  male footballer for his outstanding performance that made him shine brighter than any other. He won the ranking before his Egyptian teammate in Liverpool, Mohamed Salah and Morocco's Hakim Ziyech. The Covid-19 pandemic may have held football hostage, but for the brief moments of respite, the enigmatic winger made capital of his every opportunity to find a place under the sun. His 6 goals tallied in the English Premier League whose Community Shield they won, as well as the lone UEFA strike which were visible gains made from the deployment of his individual acumen were the shouting factor in the polynomial. It therefore convinced analysts and observers the world-over that he was Africa’s best this past year.

The IFFHS Africa Best Player Award just won by Sadio Mané after featuring in the recent Africa Top-11 for 2020 published by this same institution is the logical finale to a decade in which the muslim who makes the du’a before matches has demonstrated he is one of the best in contemporary football. You can name: 4th-place finish in FIFA Ballon d’Or ratings in 2019; 5th and 4th best in FIFA men’s player ratings for 2019 and 2020, respectively; and CAF Golden Ball last year.

As he certainly would be counting his blessings one by one, the 1m75-tall Sadio who plays with both legs, although with a more lethal right foot is certainly bent on demonstrating that his speed, technique, finishing, agility and dribbling skills can land him the awards reserved only for the saints of the game.
