Neymar surpasses Pelé as Brazil top scorer!
Neymar has finally broken Pele's old record for most goals in Brazil national team. After a brace in the World Cup qualifying match vs Bolivia (5-1), Neymar now has 79 goals, 2 more than “O Rei”.
Pele has held the national record since 16 May 1962. On this day, in a friendly vs Wales (3-1), he scored two goals that became his 32nd and 33rd in the national team jersey and allowed him to overtake the former record holder Ademir (32).
After that, Pele increased the record to 77 goals, a figure big enough to hold it for more than 60 years. This record outlived Pele himself, although not for long.
